Bolgheri Wine Tour

Every lover of Tuscan wines knows Sassicaia wine. With the goal to make a wine similar to the French Bordeaux wines, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta could start to produce Sassicaia in the second half of 20th century thanks to a soil that is like Graves area’s terroir.

Bolgheri, important area of wines made of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet grape, has become with the years the cradle of wines, which are real jewels of a collection, mentioned in the most important magazines of the world.

In Bolgheri was also created the concept of Supertuscan wine: a powerful and muscular wine partially made of Bordeaux grapes. Its famous vanilla aromas are due to the stay in the barrique (French oak barrel), which is a new ageing system introduced with the Sassicaia wine.

Thanks to the large success, the concept of Supertuscan has been spread over the years in Tuscany, so that many wineries, even the ones located in disparate areas, have its own top list wine, its own Supertuscan.
