Brunello di Montalcino Wine Tour

Montalcino is the area of Italy where Sangiovese grape gives its best. The history starts in the 19th century when Clemente Santi selected a Sangiovese grape clone locally called Brunello. Ferruccio Biondi Santi, Clemente Santi's grandson, started an intensive production using Brunello grape and at the end of 19th century he invented the wine called Brunello di Montalcino.
A long time, almost a century, has gone by and Brunello di Montalcino has become one of the most great wines of the world mentioned in a lot of most important wine reviews. Some numbers: 250 wineries, 2600 hectares of vineyard and 6500000 bottles of Brunello every year.

In our wine tour we will visit the wonderful Montalcino's landscape with expanses of vineyards surrounded by woods and we will explain every fundamental aspect (the work in the vineyard, the vinification, the aging etc.) to understand better how a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino has been produced.
We will approach the world of wine from a special point of view. We will explore two different systems to produce Brunello di Montalcino: a modern and a traditional style. We will also visit two wineries with the two different wine producing styles and during the wine tasting we will do a comparison so that you will be able to choose “your style”.
